Timely execution of SCUT project is the responsibility of civil construction conglomerate
On Thursday, the Regional Secretary for Science, Technology and Equipments that all the work undertaken at SCUT project on the island of São Miguel is entirely of the responsibility of the consortium EUROSCUT.
Answering to a open letter o the President of the Municipality of Vila Franca do Campo about a supposed “lack of activity or slow advance” regarding the execution of the project in Vila Franca, José Contente underlined that “neither the Government nor any other public entity are responsible for the progression of these public works.”
He added, “the contract between the Government and the SCUT consortium stipulates the deadline of 20111 for the finalisation of all public works and the inauguration of the road, at which time the Region will initiate payments.”
According to José Contente, “no specific deadline is mentioned in the contract regarding the conclusion of the SCUT project in Vila Franca do Campo unless the deadline for the conclusion of all work pertaining to the SCUT project in São Miguel island. Therefore, the Government does not assume any responsibility for the timely execution of the project. This responsibility lies entirely with the civil construction consortium.”
