The Regional Secretariat for Science, Technology and Infrastructures has just open an application for three new scholarships in order to integrate graduates in Innovation and Investigation projects (I&D) which are currently taking place in the Azores. The scholarship holders will sign a one-year contract which may be renewable up to a maximum of two years.
One of the scholarships will be subordinated to the I&D project (“Development of Computer System for Storage and Sharing of Clinical Data”), being addressed all those who hold a degree in areas related to Computer Science, especially in Bioinformatics. Likewise, the second scholarship aims to integrate a graduate in the same project and it is addressed at those who hold a degree and/or a master’s degree in Computer Engineering.
These two projects are the result of a partnership between an I&D unit and an Information Technology company that share the same purpose, the development of a Personal health Record (PHR). The works will be developed in a joint effort with the Centre of Applied Mathematics and Information Technologies (CMATI) of the University of the Azores.
In turn, the third scholarship to be awarded will focus on the theme “Assessment of the commercial potential of Sphaerechinus granularis and Paracentrotus lividus sea urchins.” This scholarship is the result of a partnership between an I&D unit and a Service and Consultancy company in the fisheries area, which intends to assess the commercial potential of two native sea urchin species in the Azores.
Those who hold a degree and/or a master’s degree in Nutrition, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Marine Biology and Fisheries or in other related areas may apply for this scholarship. The works will be developed at the IMAR Centre of the University of the Azores (IMAR-DOP/UAÇ).
The period for submitting applications will take place until October 2. The Regulation, Public Notice and application form for these scholarships are available at: http://www.azores.gov.pt/gra/sctr.
