Launched by Portos dos Açores, S.A. (Regional Port Authorities), the tender has a base price of 15 million Euros and a stipulated completion period set at 24 months from the date of the awarding of the contract work or the approval of the safety and health plan.

The contract work provides for the expansion of the quay with bottom depth of -8.00 m (HZ) by 62.68 metres, creating with a mooring berth of about 145.75 metres, as well as the construction of a mooring dolphin in the same alignment of the quay at a distance of 34.26 metres (to the axis) from the top of the "expanded" quay, which will enable the operation of the thematic cruise ships.

The works will also include the construction of a RO-RO ramp to be built at the end of the existing quay at a depth of -5.00 m (HZ). It will be located within Pipas port with a width of 12.50 metres and a service depth of -5.00 m (HZ) for the operation of ferry boats “Gilberto Mariano” and “Mestre Jaime Feijó.”
