The Regional Council of Firefighters will meet in Lajes do Pico on Friday, April 29. The opening session of the meeting will be presided over by the Regional Secretary for Science, Technology and Infrastructures.

This advisory body, which usually meets once a year, comprises the Azores Regional Civil Protection and Fire Service, the Azores Federation of Firefighters, seventeen representatives of the boards of the Humanitarian Association of Volunteer Firefighters of the Azores (AHBV) and the respective fire brigade commanders.

The analysis of the patient ground transport system; the implementation of the Regulations of Minimum Conditions for AHBV ambulance crews; the training of firefighters, the analysis of service statistical indicators in 2010 and other relevant issues will be some of the themes under discussion at this meeting.

The Regional Council of Firefighters will be preceded by a meeting of the AHBV representatives to discuss the administrative status of fire brigades as well as by a meeting of fire brigade commanders, who will address the operational situation.

The last Council of Firefighters took place in Ponta Delgada on March 2010.
