The Regional Secretariat for Science, Technology and Infrastructures has planted more than 1300 plants such as araucaria, cedars, ombus and bushes such as azaleas, hibiscus and dracanea throughout the regional roads of the island of Faial.
This initiative, undertaken by the governmental services in that island took place simultaneously with the substitution of all decrepit road signs and the substitution of new signs with tourist information and, finally, with the implementation of refurbishment work in all spaces adjacent to the roads.
In addition to the re-qualification of the pavement and the placement of new signals, the Regional Secretariat for Science, technology and Equipment will also invest in the embellishment of all green areas adjacent to the roads, making them appealing not only to tourists but to the local population as well.
These measures which have been implemented simultaneously with the re-qualification of pavements are complemented by the assiduous maintenance efforts of the technicians of the SRCTE Delegation that seek to provide the island of Faial with excellent and flowery roads, thus adding value to the tourism offer.
