Government challenges businessmen for courage and confidence attitude in the economy

The regional secretary for Science, Technology and Infrastructures challenged the Azorean enterprises to accompany the Government in an attitude of “confidence and courage” as for the future of the economy.

In the opening, on Thursday in Ponta Delgada, of the Civil Construction and Construction Materials Market, promoted by the local Chamber of Trade and Industry and by the AICOPA businessmen's sector association, José Contente guaranteed, on the other side, the attention of the Executive to the functioning of the mechanisms of regional regulation.

He guaranteed that the Government is also attentive to the difficulties that can appear or that already appeared, highlighting, to this purpose, the credit line recently announced by the chief of the Executive to help economical problems of the enterprises.

According to José Contente, it matters, however, that the businessmen have conscience that phenomena as the globalization reach the Region and the dimension of the regional market.

“It isn’t expected not even realistic that every year the consumption of concrete exceeds 300 thousand tons, as it is registered of some years to this part ”, it considered the governor, alerting for the need of improving the competitiveness, the quality, the efficiency and the enablement of the regional enterprises for the reduction of the accidents at work.

He still underlined the peculiarities of the new legislative building, namely of the work code and of public employment that, in the Azores, had a special attention by the Government.

In the Azores, the over works can reach the 25 percent, the direct agreement can be done in a year to the same enterprise and more than once in agreement with the what is foreseen in the legislation.

According to José Contente, there was an attention that demands from the official entities, and also from the enterprises, new approaches in the apprenticeship so that these contracts and these contests don’t paralyse and can carry out all the requisites.

He still warned about the importance of only planning “what it is possible to pay”.
