Government and University of the Azores promote second edition of "Knowing the Azores Sea"

Following the success of the first edition of the initiative "Knowing the Azores Sea," an open and formal meeting between the regional administration and Azorean scientists, the Regional Government, through the Regional Secretariats for Science, Technology and Infrastructures and the Environment and the Sea, in partnership with the Provost of the University of the Azores for the Integration of Maritime Affairs have invited the scientific community for the second edition.

"Knowing the Azores Sea II" will be held at the João José da Graça Public Library and Regional Archive in Horta on July 9 and 10.

This initiative was also organised to provide moments of open and inclusive communication between Azorean science and regional administration and simultaneously reinforce the regional research networks by strengthening ties between scientists working in the Azores. This year, these goals are of particular importance as the Maritime Spatial Planning for the Azores is under preparation as well as the implementation of the "Marine Strategy" Framework Directive.

Researchers should communicate their possible interest in participating in the meeting with the presentation of a paper whose title should be indicated. Like the first edition, each speaker will be entitled to 10 minutes of presentation time and free participation during extended discussion.

Replies should be sent to the following email: [email protected] until June 8. Detailed information on the organization of presentations and the programme will be made available following the submission of replies. Researchers who need travel and accommodation support should indicate in their reply.
