The Regional secretary for Science, Technology and Infrastructures considered the Naval Club of Rabo de Peixe, which he inaugurated today, a new “window of opportunities” for the development of this town of the island of S. Miguel.
“The ceremonies of inauguration aren’t the end of a stage, but crowning new opportunities, there are new projects of future that begin”, it added José Contente, underlining that Rabo de Peixe lives a “new modernity cycle” that takes into account the appreciation of its population in a references framework that allows “turning the people for the sea, in a right way”.
The governor highlighted the double role attributed to the new equipment, taking into account the social context in which it is included, pointing the athletic dimension that is associated to it and, above all, the contribute for the improvement of the citizenship in the town of Rabo de Peixe that is hoped from it.
José Contente also defended the need of removing the stigma of poverty and of offering equality of opportunities to the population of the town, considering that, for that, another work of bigger wingspan is necessary, the “social change”.
He equally reiterated like priority of the Executive the economical development associated to the social progress and of the citizenship.
“We are breaking with all these negative factors, we are looking after these great windows for the social horizon, setting the common good for this population”, he added.
