The Regional Secretariat for Social Solidarity signed today a collaboration agreement with the Village Council of Santa Cruz in the municipality of Praia da Vitória for the rehabilitation of needy households that are unable to manage financial support.
 
"This is a collaboration agreement amounting to 32,675 Euros, of which 15,175 Euros are supported by the Regional Government through the Regional Directorate for Housing. The support aims to finance the purchase of building materials," Andreia Cardoso said, adding that "the remaining amount, corresponding to labour, will be provided by the village of Santa Cruz."
 
The main works are intended to provide homes with minimum safety and health conditions, including the improvement and adaptation of sanitary facilities and roofs.
 
In her speech delivered at the ceremony, the Regional Secretary pointed out that, during this terms, the Regional Government has awarded subsidies amounting to 1.7 million Euros for the rehabilitation of 160 homes located on the island of Terceira.
 
"We are at a ceremony marking the union of efforts between the Government and a municipality to improve the housing and living conditions of its residents," said Andreia Cardoso.
 
The Regional Secretary revealed that, since 2013, the Government has signed several agreements for the rehabilitation of nearly half a thousand homes, representing an overall investment of two million Euros," to which we add up what each partner contributed, within its powers and resources, to the implementation of partnership projects."
 
This support reflects the priority that the Regional Government has awarded to families as regards to the improvement of their housing situation, thereby improving the safety and health conditions of the rehabilitated homes. It also represents an important contribution to local construction companies.
