The Regional Secretariat for Employment and Social Solidarity will invest more than 219 thousand euros on the island of Faial, in the ambit of the public housing support programme.

During the month of January, 14 families were assisted in the ambit of the programme for supporting the recuperation of degraded housing, reaching a total investment of 250 thousand euros.

Also in the month of January, the Regional Government of the Azores granted, through the same programme, an amount of 93 thousand euros, benefiting eight families on the islands of Terceira, Santa Maria and Flores.

With these investments, the Regional Government aims to provide better housing and security conditions to the families that were helped.

At the same time, the Regional Government approved three applications for the attribution of public financing, in the order of 42, 400 euros, to combat the infestation of termites.

This legislation, proposed by the Government and approved in 2005 by the Azorean Parliament, concerns the attribution of free debt-service subsidies to help families deal with the interest rate costs related to the recuperation of degraded infrastructures.
