The Regional Secretary for Social Solidarity stressed in Praia da Vitória the publication Ordinance no.122/2015 in the Official Journal that establishes the increase of regional subsidisation of fees for families with two and children attending nurseries and kindergartens of the regional network of social infrastructures, thus reducing families' monthly expenses.

 "A family with two children will benefit from a 30% discount on the monthly fee, for each of each child. In turn, families with three or more children will benefit from a monthly reimbursement of 50%," said Andreia Cardoso. The government official spoke on the sidelines of a visit to Santa Rita Nursery and Kindergarten, a social infrastructural run by the "Santa Casa da Misericórdia" of Praia da Vitória.

 The Regional Secretary stressed that this "measure is already provided in the Government's Programme and it clearly shows that the good management of public resources allows us to continue to do more and better when it comes to support Azorean families."

 "This type of support is critical to families insofar as it directly contributes to the increase of their disposable income," Andreia Cardoso said, stressing that the Region's support goes far beyond the provision of infrastructure and services.

 "Nurseries and kindergartens have become a very important social response, providing a response to the occupation of children in periods when parents and traditional caregivers can no longer be present. They also contribute to the reconciliation between work and family life," the Regional Secretary said, pointing out the numerous advantages psychopedagogical of including children in preschool education.
