Government reaffirms commitment to construction of the new hospital of the Terceira Island
The regional secretary for Social Affairs affirmed today in Angra do Heroísmo that the process of construction of the new hospital of the Terceira Island is happening with the predicted chronology and procedures, without being delays in its planning. Domingos Cunha, who was speaking to the Press, guaranteed that the Government of the Azores will accomplish its commitment, in what will, very probably, be the biggest public investment carried out in the Terceira Island, in next years. The regional secretary referred that, in the negotiation process of purchase of the necessary lands to the construction of the new hospital with the respective owners, 1,8 million euros were able to be saved regarding the initial estimate, reason for which it was necessary to annul the meantime published governmental decree, re-converting that amount for other initiatives in the area of health. The governmental decree annulment is refuted by the PSD/Azores (Democratic Socialist Party) considering the regional secretary that, in the specific case, that party spoke of more and thought of less. Domingos Cunha finally explained that, in sequence of the fulfilment of the schedule of the concession, construction, management and administration process of the new hospital until now, an anticipation of the term of beginning of the respective works is put in perspective.
