Signement of cooperation protocol

Government fulfils training of the Technicians of Diagnosis and Therapeutics of the Region

The protocol of cooperation signed today between the Government and the University of the Azores for the accomplishment of degree courses with two training cycles in the areas of Clinical Analyses and Public Health, Radiology, Cardiopneumology and Environmental Health is fitted in the training project of improvement of the Technicians of Diagnosis and Therapeutics (TDT) of the Region, affirmed the regional secretary for Social Affairs.

Altogether, the five areas are going to allow that 80 alumni of the Regional Health Service (SRS) progress in the TDT careers through courses administered by the Nursing College of Angra in partnership with the College of Technology of the Health of Lisbon.

In the ceremony of officialization of the agreement, Domingos Cunha told that the initiative materializes “a coherent training project, scientifically and pedagogically accredited and efficient”, in the way of the "valorisation" and “vocational improvement” of the human resources of the health, fitting the investment in the scholarship, created by the Government of the Azores, with aim at supporting financially these professionals.

The regional secretary remembered that similar investment was applied in the attainment, in the Region, of the degree course for 300 nurses of the SRS and 26 technicians of physical therapy, who end their graduation on the 15th of February of 2009, being, for soon, the post-graduation in Medicine of the Work and having already been signed the protocol for the postgraduate course in Management of the Health Units.

“With the present protocol we extend the degree course with two training cycles to the training areas of the Technicians of Diagnosis and Therapeutics (TDT), with all the benefits and profits that this partnership implicates for a Regional Health Service that we want more and more efficient, more present and nearer of the citizen”, he explained.

Along these initiatives, the Government of the Azores attributes every year scholarships to the students of the TDT course and to the health professionals who apply for the degree courses with two training cycles.
