Following the 440 applications submitted for the Lease Incentive Scheme in 2013, the Government of the Azores has preliminarily approved 342 applications.

Provisional lists were published for consultation on December 12. Applicants will have 10 working days to contest results. After this period, they will become definitive.

The lists are published at the services of the Regional Directorate for Housing, the offices of the Integrated Citizen Support Network (RIAC) and on the Internet portal of the Government of the Azores.

Although results are not conclusive, 54 percent of the preliminarily approved applicants were submitted by young households, 23 percent correspond to single-parent families and 11 percent to young single-parent families.

Since the entry into force of the "Families with Futures" Programme, a total of 1,142 applications have been submitted under Lease Incentive Scheme.
Currently, more than 700 families are being supported by this measure, which represents a monthly support of about 132 thousand Euros.

With the applications submitted in 2013, this support measure will increase to an overall amount over 190 thousand Euros.

The Lease Incentive Scheme has been a key measure to improve the housing conditions of families by promoting their autonomy and the access to housing.
 
This measure has also supported the recovery and renewal works of several buildings and houses, which not only benefits the rental market but also the Azorean construction sector.
