Protocols signed between Regional Government and municipalities and Private Social Solidarity Institutions in the housing sector already surpass one million Euros

The Regional Director for Housing stated in Ponta Delgada that the overall amount of agreements and protocols signed with local authorities and Private Social Solidarity Institutions (IPSS) in the housing sector has already surpassed one million Euros in this legislative period. Orlando Goulart concluded today in Ponta Delgada the round of information sessions on the support granted by the Regional Government in the area of housing, covering all islands of the Azores. These sessions were held in an organised manner with the aim of identifying the goals, the beneficiaries, the constraints and the obligations of each of them; the explanations were followed by practical examples.

Information sessions were especially directed to mayors and leaders of IPSS or other entities whose actions are aimed at Azorean families.

The sessions also provided explanations about the new 'Renovated Home, Inhabited Home" Programme, both in the "Renovate for Living" component and in the "Renovate for Leasing" component.

Besides the support provided, the sessions included the provision of information on the action taken by the Regional Directorate for Housing under the Annual Plan of the Regional Strategy to Combat Poverty and Social Exclusion. In this regard, it aims to improve the mobility of the elderly and people with reduced mobility in their homes, eliminating barriers and, thereby, preventing falls as a factor of social exclusion.

In the course of various information sessions, the Regional Director has always praised municipalities and IPSS as privileged partners of the Azorean Government in the implementation of its housing policy. According to him, “these entities contribute to a wider dissemination of housing support among Azorean families, especially in the action related to the removal of architectural barriers."

“The implementation of this action largely depends on the ability of the entities to report cases that may be supported by this measure to the Regional Directorate for Housing, which will then sign collaboration agreements or protocols for the allocation of support,” said Orlando Goulart.

The Regional Director also highlighted the good feedback of entities in this information road show. In fact, these initiatives "contributed to a wider and better dissemination of information among participants."
