Over 180 applications have been submitted to the tender for the allocation of 17 apartments on a sublease scheme with purchase option for permanent housing in the village of Ribeira Grande on São Miguel.

These applications were submitted on time; the application period ended last Friday, January 24. Following their submission, they will be now analysed.
Of the 17 apartments to be allocated under this application, nine are 2-bedroom apartments and eight are 3-bedroom apartments; they are located at Rua da Saúde, Edifício da Rotunda da Ribeira Seca, in the municipality of Ribeira Grande.

The significant volume of applications submitted to this tender, which is intended to reduce the existing constraints in the access to housing loans, demonstrates the interest of young households and their satisfaction with these measures.

After the selection of families, the Government of the Azores reminds that the lease to be paid by each family corresponds to the amount paid by the Government to the Housing and Urban Renewal Institute; the amount will be deducted from a bonus which, according to each family, may reach a maximum of 35 percent.

This tender awards priority status to young couples, single-parent families and families with disabled members. Families will have the possibility of purchasing the apartment at any time, provided that within one year after the date of the signing of the sublease contract.
