Through the Regional Directorate for Housing, the Regional Secretariat for Labour and Social Solidarity has awarded a flat and two houses for social housing in the villages of Ribeirinha, Porto Formoso and Matriz, under the Re-housing Programme, in an investment surpassing 351 thousand Euros.
The Regional Directorate for Housing awarded a 4-bedroom house for re-housing through an exchange at the Rua Duarte Borges in the village of São Roque yesterday, in an investment of 110 thousand Euros.
The previous house of this household, which is now benefitting from a new home, was destroyed in a fire during New Year’s Eve (2008/2009).
Meanwhile, the Government has invested more than 320,719.98 Euros in the relocation of four families with severe housing problems on Terceira Island.
The houses are owned by the Region and the rent to be paid by families will be calculated according to household’s income.
These initiatives are integrated in a social housing policy developed by the Government of the Azores in order to improve the quality of life.
