Luís Cabral says the "quality of care" provided to patients is the priority of the Regional Health Service
The Regional Secretary for Health reiterated in Angra do Heroísmo that the continuous improvement of the quality of care provided to patients is a priority of the Regional Health Service (SRS), which entails, among other measures, the provision of nurses to ensure the "security and proximity" of health services, especially in primary health care.
Luís Cabral spoke at the end of the signing ceremony of an agreement with the Nurses' Association for the hiring of nurses and specialists to Regional Health Units. The government official stressed that the Government has "reinforced the capacity of these infrastructures in the Regional Health Service," pointing out that agreement aims to ensure "the proper operation of services and their quality."
The Regional Secretary for Health also considered that this agreement is an example of the "spirit of good collaboration that the Government of the Azores has demonstrated towards different entities in the pursuit of the quality and operational criteria of the Regional Health Service."
The administration boards of the Island Health Unit and the Nurses' Association will jointly calculate the number of nurses required for this health unit by applying the Rule for the Calculation of Secure Appropriations of Nursing Care of the Nurses' Association. They will also survey the number of specialist nurses working in the Region.
