Horta ,  July 15, 2016

Luís Cabral announced another three accredited health centres in the Azores

The Regional Secretary for Health revealed in Horta that the Azores have another three accredited health centres, specifying that these centres are located in Praia da Vitória and de Angra do Heroísmo, Terceira Island, and in Vila Franca do Campo, S. Miguel Island.

Luís Cabral spoke on the sidelines of a visit to Faial Health Centre, the first to be accredited in the Azores, where he observed the operation of the kiosk and Patient Call System for the management of waiting lines at Health Centres. The government official stressed that the kiosk will be installed in the recently accredited health units "as a reward for the efforts of the administration boards in the accreditation process."

"This week, we received the news that another three Azorean health units are now accredited and, subsequently, the patient call system will be installed by the Regional Secretariat for Health in these units," announced the government official.

The Kiosk and Patient Call System is a process related to the registration and scheduling of patients in a module of the Primary Health Care application (MedicineOne) that collects administrative information: name, exemption from user fees or programmed scheduling.

Upon arrival to the Health Centre, patients go to the Kiosk and make their identification through the Citizen Card or the barcode reader of the User Card/document printed from MedicineOne.

According to the Regional Secretary for Health, this process "brings added value to Faial Health Unit in terms of its organisation insofar as it reduces the interaction of patients with the administration, taking into account that it is carried out automatically.

"Patients are satisfied with this system. It has managed to reform reception services with the creation of more reception units at health centres," added Luís Cabral.

The Secretary for Health also pointed out that this system "was an achievement for Faial Health Unit," being awarded as the "recognition for its successful accreditation process since it was the first health unit of the Autonomous Region of the Azores to be accredited."
