The Regional Secretariat for Health guarantees toll-free calls to the Azores Health Line 808 24 60 24 from today in order to improve the population's access to this service.
The measure was established as a priority by the Regional Secretary for Health, Teresa Machado Luciano, and results from a major effort undertaken with the entity responsible for its management in collaboration with other national operators.
The Azores Health Line has been reinforced since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, either through the nurses from the Azores Regional Civil Protection and Fire Service or through other professionals, as agreed between the Regional Secretary for Health and the Nursing Association.
The Azores Health Line has been receiving between 700 and 800 calls on a daily basis.
During the day, the service is provided by eight nurses and by four nurses during the night period.
At the moment, there is capacity for the installation of 10 service stations with the possibility of installing more according to needs.
The number of calls received is regularly evaluated to adjust the number of nurses needed.
The Azores Health Line 808 24 60 24 is a medical support and advice line.
