Considering the information which has been published about Type A flu (H1N1), the Regional Directorate for Health communicates the following:
1. There are neither cases in the Autonomous Region of the Azores, nor there are official restrictions about travelling to the affected areas. Portugal has only registered a single confirmed case of Type A flu since April 24, 2009. There are no cases under laboratorial investigation at the present moment.
2. The Regional Directorate for Health appeals once more to citizens that, when in presence of flu-like symptoms, of travelling to the affected areas (Mexico and United States of America) and of contact with confirmed Type A flu patients, they should call first the Azores Health Line (808 24 60 24) and then follow healthcare professionals’ recommendations.
3. The Regional Directorate for Health is in contact with hospitals and health authorities and will disseminate the necessary guidelines in accordance to the evolution of the situation.
4. All procedures regarding the monitoring of passengers coming from the affected areas are being carried out, with the collaboration of municipal health authorities and their respective healthcare units.
