The Government of the Azores set in 40 the number of new scholarships to attribute in the 2008/2009 academic year to pupils of the Region who wish to attend the degree course in medicine.
In the terms of the 2005 diploma of the Executive of Carlos César, which established the attribution of these supports meant for fighting the insufficiency of doctors in the unities of the Regional Health Service, the interested pupils in the medicine scholarships will have to present the respective candidatures till 30th November, in the Regional Directorate for Health.
Each student who holds a scholarship has right to a monthly financing corresponding to 70 percent of the monthly regional minimum wage, from October to July, being obliged to give medical service in the Region during an equal number of years to that of academic years in which he benefited of scholarship.
He will also have to begin vocational functions in the Azores immediately after the conclusion of the course, effectuating the medical internship in an institution of the Regional Health Service, since there are any vacancies.
