The Regional Directorate for Prevention and Combat to the Dependences presented on Thursday the campaign to prevent alcohol abuse in summer festivities.
The first action counts on the support of the Sanjoaninhas Commission (St John Festivities) in Angra do Heroísmo; however, this initiative aims to extend the campaign to other festivities in the Azores.
The Regional Director for Prevention and Combat to the Dependences, Paula Costa, stresses that suppressing the festive spirit is not the purpose of the campaign, but to demonstrate that “there are several ways to party.”
The campaign started on Thursday the presentation of bracelet, containing the following sentence “FAZ A FESTA 100 _X_ _ _ _ _” (Make the party 100 _X_ _ _ _ _), which will be completed throughout various stages.
The initiative will also include other awareness raising initiatives that will be disseminated during the summer.
The involvement of the festivities commissions, as it happens with the Sanjoaninhas commission, intends to demonstrate the active participation of society.
The Regional Directorate for Prevention and Combat to the Dependences launches this campaign, taking into account the existence of studies that demonstrate a higher prevalence of alcohol consumption by youngsters and its abuse may lead to other risk behaviours.
