The creation a grid with the indicators to identify the risk situations and their respective emergency levels is one the measures comprised by the Regional Plant to prevent and Combat Domestic Violence, which was approved by the Government of the Azores on Thursday.
The document, which will be in force for the next three years, is “a fundamental political tool for public policies in this area in addition to providing, in a partnership with the national entities, free legal assistance to the victims of domestic violence.
The enhancement of the logistic support mechanisms with the provision of safe accommodation for victims and the creation of a special support line, in a joint effort of local authorities and NGOs, is also another measures envisaged in this document, which also advocates the need to act among employers in order to improve the geographic and occupational mobility of victims, when necessary.
While presenting the press release of the Council of the Government on Thursday, the Regional Secretary of the Presidency stressed that the plan defines “the awarding of maximum priority to the identification of risk situations, the immediate protection measures for victims and the combat to revictimisation” as the main strategic guidelines.
As André Bradford explained, the plan also aims “to combine the good practices already developed at a regional level with the parameters stipulated by national plans, whether and the international entities as well as to promote “the intervention of all local agents, thus privileging a proximity logic, which is fundamental for the success of the proposed measures.”
