Government presents image of the Azores as European Region of the Year 2010 in Lisbon
The Secretary of the Presidency, André Bradford will publicly present the image of the Azores as European Region of the Year 2010.
This presentation will take place at the Azores Pavilion at the Lisbon Tourism Market (BTL) on January 13, being the first initiative of initiative of several activities to be developed under the programme of the European Region of the Year.
Moreover, the Regional Under Secretary for European Affairs and External Cooperation, Rodrigo Oliveira, will present at the photography contest addressed at the tourists who visit the Azores, an initiative organised under the European Region of the Year, whose organisation counts upon the collaboration of the Association of Amateur Photographers of the Azores.
The organisation of “Azores: European Region of the Year 2010” (Açores: Região Europeia do Ano 2010) in collaboration with the regional air company, SATA, and the company Bensaúde Turismo, official sponsors, promotes a contest to award 10 trips to the Azores and respective stay, which is addressed at the public that will visit the BTL.
For André Bradford, the appointment of the Azores as European Region of the Year 2010 is “an important factor for the external recognition of the Azores in Europe, demonstrating their progress and development in a Community context and the success of their model of sustainable growth.”
The Regional Secretary of the Presidency considers that the Azores “will receive special attention regarding their promotion during this year, through the celebration and valorisation of the Azorean culture, history, building, natural and human heritage, which will have a positive impact on the regional economy.”
