The undersecretary of Fishing considered “an added value for the Region” the location in Terceira Island of the Regional Development Association, a national organization which management is in charge of the University of the Azores (UAç).
Marcelo Pamplona, who presided on Thursday, in representation of the president of the Government, Carlos César, to the inauguration of the seat of that institution of study of the problems of the regional development, added that “it is with much satisfaction that the Government sees the location of this association here in the Region, because it promotes the knowledge and it promotes the name of the Azores at national and international level”.
As he told, the association has an important role because “it promotes the connection between the scientific world and the business and work world, in a way to stimulate the development of our Region”.
The Regional Development Association, which now has as president the investigator Tomás Dentinho, of the UAç, promotes an annual congress on subjects connected with the regional development in Europe and, now, in a new axe that includes Africa.
It is also responsible for the publication of a scientific magazine on these themes and the new direction already planned, besides that, the execution of four workshops, in the Azores, in Cape Verde, Angola and Dili.
