Government finances installation of elevatory platform for wheelchairs in the University of the Azores
The regional undersecretary of Fishing considered, today, that a modern society must guarantee the access of any citizen, independently from the existence of eventual physical limitations, to all the spaces and services that he may need.
In the inauguration of an elevatory platform for wheelchairs in the building of the Social Action of the University of the Azores, in Ponta Delgada financed by the Executive, Marcelo Pamplona underlined that a good Civil Service passes certainly also by the adaptation of its buildings, so as to make possible its full use by any citizen.
Therefore, he suggested that the Government of the Azores has been coming to promote adaptations in the public buildings, allowing a better access to the information and to giving services that everyone has right to.
The new equipment, which installation stems from one initiative of the Academic Association of the University of the Azores, it guarantees the access of the students in wheelchairs to all the local services of the Social Action.
It is, in the opinion of the Azorean governor, a platform of great importance for those who present a reduced mobility and that need using the services of social action of the University of the Azores.
Marcelo Pamplona, still, emphasized that the new elevatory platform is a small detail, but that represents much for the one who of needs it, as well as for the society itself.
