The Government of the Azores, through the Regional Directorate for Science and Technology, launched a tender for the allocation of support to Information and Communication Technology (ICT) spaces in Region, amounting to 648 thousand Euros.
The entities responsible for the management and coordination of ICT spaces in the archipelago, including private social solidarity institutions, private non-profit associations, "casas do povo," municipal authorities and parish councils are eligible applicants.
Each approved application will receive the maximum of amount of 12 thousand Euros, which will be processed this year.
This tender provides the allocation of support for operation costs, maintenance of jobs and acquisition of computer equipment.
The support to ICT spaces falls within the PRO-SCIENTIA programme. It aims to promote access of the Azorean population to ICT and e-inclusion, mitigate the effects of isolation in more remote areas of urban centres, ensure a democratic information society and reduce the effects of insularity.
Currently, there are 54 ICT spaces in the Azores that provide free access to computers and the Internet; they are used by both locals and tourists.
Applications must be made by March 31, through the form available at the address http://idia.azores.gov.pt.
