Secretary for Education and Training praises the work carried out by the Praia da Vitória Vocational Training School
The regional Secretary for Education and Training visited the facilities of the Praia da Vitória Vocational Training School and took the opportunity to praise the work carried out by that training unit.
According to Lina Mendes, who was accompanied by the Regional Director for Education and Training, Fabíola Cardoso, the school “has sought to meet the labour market.” The Regional Secretary also stressed the important role played under the “Reactivar” programme, an initiative that “aims to ensure an academic and professional qualification of unemployed adults.”
Furthermore, Lina Mendes emphasised the diversity of courses and their employability for training professionals in areas where there are shortages of qualified labour.
The Regional Secretary for Education also praised the management and innovation capacity of that institution, which raises the Praia da Vitória Vocational Training School to prominence “in the training context of Terceira as well as of the Region.”
Lina Mendes, who visited the school facilities in Praia da Vitória and Angra do Heroísmo, conveyed her satisfaction with beginning of the works of the new school facilities in the city of Praia da Vitória, with the financial support of the Azorean Government.
At the present moment, 418 students are attending the Praia da Vitória Vocational Training School, of whom 150 are integrated in the “Reactivar” programme. The school currently offers 27 courses in areas such as electronics, electricity, construction, agriculture, hotel management, multimedia amongst others.
