Regional Secretary for Education and Training met with Teachers’ Democratic Union of the Azores
The Regional Secretary for Education and Training said in Ponta Delgada today that the proposal for the teachers’ evaluation form should be completed during May.
Maria Lina Mendes spoke at the beginning of a meeting with the Teachers’ Democratic Union of the Azores and assured the teachers’ evaluation form has been already detached from the Teaching Career Statute, becoming a Regional Regulation Decree for the present moment.
After the meeting with the Teachers’ Union of the Azores (SPRA) on that labour issue, the Secretary will end the first conversation round today. The next round is scheduled for the next month in order to achieve a general consensus regarding the evaluation form, which according to the Secretary, has been already improved, comparatively to its initial version.
Nevertheless, Maria Lina Mendes stated that the major evaluation dimensions cannot be changed, as the Teaching Career Statute already identifies them; therefore, the implementation of the guidelines which are envisaged in the Statute and the improvement of the evaluation form should be the working basis.
The Regional Secretary for Education and Training recognised that the teachers’ evaluation form is currently more accessible and also less subjective, which was one of the Teachers’ Unions’ demands.
