Regional Government of the Azores is still committed to the improvement of the regional education system
On Thursday, the Regional Secretary for Education and Training said that vocational training and the valorisation of human resources in the education system are one of the most important pillars of the Governments education policy that seeks to improve the quality of the regional education system.
Maria Lina Mendes, speaking in Ponta Delgada at the meeting of the Coordinating Council of the Regional Education System, reaffirmed the Government’s objective to invest strongly in the renovation and modernisation of schools, in new IT technologies, in the consolidation of vocational training and in other pedagogical projects, conforming to the stated objectives of the Government’s Policy Programme and the Medium-Term Policy Orientations.
The Coordinating Council of the Regional Education System is an institution that aims to evaluate and coordinate the functioning of the regional education system, supervising and assisting with the development of educational policies.
In the view of the Secretary, this is a very important institution given that it permits the participation of everyone involved in the education sector in the implementation of educational policies.
The Council is made up by the Regional Directors of Education and Sports, the Regional Inspector of Education, School Directors, teachers and personnel unions, student associations and representatives from the private education sector, vocational and professional.
At the meeting of the Council, which took place on Thursday, in addition to the presentation of the educational policies and the programme for next year, the representatives of the Council in the permanent Evaluation Commissions were elected.
