The regional secretary for Education and Science considered that the new building of the Professional School of São Jorge, at whose inauguration he presided today in Velas, represents the "consolidation" of the vocational training and the widening of the training of the establishment.

“This is a school that already has history and that was already capable of conquering a place in the central group and with the new infrastructures it is going to widen its offer”, it added Álamo Meneses.

Located in Avenida do Livramento, the Professional School of São Jorge started to have a new classroom’s block and teaching spaces endowed for the simulated vocational practice, having the infrastructure benefited of a global investment of four million euros.

The establishment serves a population of nearly 400 pupils, starting to be suitable for increasing the number of inscriptions with the creation of the new services.

Traditionally characterized by a training offer connected with the farming, the school has been widening its curricula to other vocational areas like computer science, electricity, among others.
