Integration of artistic education in regular education benefits students and parents

Integration of artistic education in regular education benefits students and parents
The Regional Secretary for Education and Training considered today, in the city of Horta, that the integration of artistic education in regular education will bring “benefits for students and parents.”
Asked to make comments about some concerns expressed in an undersigned regarding the integration of the local Conservatory in the Horta Basic Education School, Lina Mendes stated that the alteration, already accomplished in Angra do Heroísmo, pleased parents because they believe “that it is much more advantageous” for students to have the artistic education integrated in their school.
In the case of Faial, the Regional Secretary explained that the integration of the Conservatory will be made in the Horta Basic Education School because “the majority of students that attend the Conservatory” also study in that organic unity.
She also confirmed that the project for remodelling the Horta Basic Education School, which is in the final stage, will be corrected in order to contemplate the integration of the Conservatory, since its facilities will have another purpose.
“Concerning the management of the Conservatory itself, as a self-autonomous decision-making body, we will deal with this situation in the future,” said Lina Mendes.
The Regional Secretary also announced that a team is already working. The task of this team is “to present proposals, not only regarding the integration of the Conservatory, but also the artistic education issues” in the archipelago.
According to her, this team which has already met integrates elements from conservatories and schools with artistic education.
