On Tuesday, in the city of Angra do Heroísmo, the Regional Secretariat for Education and Training began a supplementary round of negotiations with teachers’ unions concerning the alterations of the Teaching Career Statute. The negotiations will continue on Wednesday.
Tuesdays’ meeting with the Regional Teachers Union of Azores (SPRA) and that of Wednesday, with the Teachers Democratic Union, finalised a negotiation process that has already produced some convergence in the views espoused by its participants, especially with regard to such matters as absences due to illness, the evaluation process and the teaching and non-teaching aspects.
One of the questions under discussion is the application, in this academic year, of an evaluation framework, even though it is certain that this evaluative aspect will be implemented, in a simplified format.
After the final round of negotiations, the Regional Secretary for Education and Training, Lina Mendes, will be heard by the Parliamentary Commission of Social Affairs, which will also hear the unions. She will present to them the Governmental proposal for the revision of the Teaching Career Statute.
