The Government of the Azores will purchase 850 laptops for elementary school teachers for classroom use.
The measure, which is included in the initiative “e-escolinha Açores,” will be put into practice through the School Fund of the Antero de Quental Secondary School which manages the funds for the “Digital Schools” (Escolas Digitais) project in the Archipelago.
An order of the Regional Secretariat for Education and Training, published in the Official Journal today, justifies the decision given that teachers should be able to work and have at their disposal computer equipments similar to their students.”
Lina Mendes also reminds that under the regulation of the “e-escolinha Açores,” that Governmental department has the duty “of providing elementary schools with a sufficient number of computers for teachers in a classroom context, the respective software, recovery tools and instruction books.”
Concerning the aforementioned order, the acquisition of 850 laptops through direct purchase procedure, with at least three different suppliers being contacted, with a base price of 205 thousand Euros plus VAT, was authorised.
