Government finances in 400 thousand euros second phase of informatization of the schools of the 1st cycle of the Azores
The project “Digital Schools” won, on Tuesday, a new impulse with the signature of a protocol between the regional directorates for Education and for Science and Technology and the School Fund of the Antero de Quental High School, which affects more 400 thousand euros to its implementation.
The amount at issue is going to allow the execution of the second phase of the informatization of the schools of the 1st cycle, serving, namely, for the acquisition of computers and respective hardware and of services correlated with the “Digital Schools” project, a project meant for the creation of digital environments of management, teaching and apprenticeship in the Azorean schools.
For the regional secretary for Education and Science, Álamo Meneses, the signature of the agreement signed Tuesday “comes to confirm the priority character that the Government gave to this initiative as part of the innovatory practices that it has been coming to promote in the regional educative system”.
The new financing has as objectives allowing a generalized use of the technologies of information and communication (TIC) in the schools, to make easy the access to the Internet in educative environment and to innovate at the level of the teaching-apprenticeship process for the active introduction of the TIC and of the Internet in the classroom.
With its execution it is intended to reinforce the computer science park of the schools of 1st cycle of the Region, to stimulate the digital literacy and to fight the info-exclusion.
In the terms of the agreement celebrated with the Antero de Quental it competes to the Regional Directorate for Science and Technology to finance and to technically accompany the acquisition and installation of the informatics and multimedia equipment in the schools of 1st cycle of the Region, being the Regional Directorate for Education with the task of inspection the phase of use and exploration of the installed equipments, in the way of guaranteeing that they are used exclusively for the aims that they are meant for.
