Commission to monitor implementation of teachers’ evaluation model appointed

A commission composed by five people will monitor the implementation of the teachers’ evaluation model in the Azores.

Appointed by an Order of the of the Regional Secretary for Education and Training, published in the Official Jornal today, this commission is justified by Lina Mendes with “the nature of the tasks that should be undertaken in order to accomplish all the monitoring work regarding the implementation of this evaluation scheme.”

The commission is lead by the president of the Executive Council of the Arrifes Basic Education School, who also presides over the Permanent Evaluation Commission, and it integrates three teachers, on behalf of the Regional Secretariat for Education and Training, of the Teachers’ Democratic Union of the Azores (SDPA) and of the Teachers’ Union of the Azores (SPRA), and an expert on evaluation.

Under the Statute of the Teaching Career in the Autonomous Region of the Azores, the Coordinating Council of the Regional Education System has the assignment of monitoring the materialisation of the Teachers’ Evaluation System in the Azores, which has started to be implemented in current school year.

Thus, the Coordinating Council should globally analyse the performance of the teachers of each school every school year.
