The number of children and youngsters with ages between three and 19 years old out of the Azores’ school network decreased, between 1998 and 2007, of 10.123 for 5.888.
According to data of a report of the Regional Directorate for Education, in the end of the decennium in regard the schooling rate reached, in the Region, 100 percent in the age group of the six to the 14 years old.
In general terms, there happened, between the school year 1997/1998 and it of 2006/2007, a generally positive evolution on the subject of schooling, with distinction for the ages understood between three and five years old and from 15 to 17 years old, it underlines the document.
At the level of the school success, the Regional Directorate for Education marks, also, a globally positive evolution in the decennium, though it recognizes that, since the preparatory teaching, the rhythm of growth of the transition / conclusion rate is slower.
Nevertheless, it is noticed that in the secondary teaching the rhythm of growth of this rate accelerated considerably, being noticed improvements that vary between 4,3 percent for the 11th schooling grade (of 77 for 80,3 percent) and of 35,7 percent for the 12th grade (of 50,5 for 68,5 percent).
