Teachers and students of the schools of the Azores and Madeira will be able to apply to a an annual prize of educational multimedia contents that was established by the Regional Directorates for Education of both regions.
On Tuesday, the Inter-regional Multimedia Contents Prize (PICME) was presented at a press conference in the city of Angra do Heroismo by the Regional Director for Education and Vocational Training. Teams of eight persons can apply-three students and a teacher from each of the two regions.
The establishment of this prize seeks to promote the development of multimedia pedagogical capacities in the schools of Madeira and Azores by rewarding quality projects that are original and creative. It aims also to reward the entrepreneurship of its participants as well as their capacity to cooperate and execute joint projects.
Multimedia teams that participate in this project will rely on the IT technologies that have been installed in schools. In the case of the Azores, there is one computer per eight students in every school of the region.
The prize, which consists of trips offered to an Ultra-peripheral European Region, is attributed alternately to students up to 12 years old or older that are matriculated in higher learning institutions.
Students that are older than 12 years have been chosen as the age group that is eligible to participate in this years' contest. They must be matriculated in higher learning educational institutions in order to participate in the competition.
