The Regional Adapted Track and Field / Intellectual Disabilities Championship will be held on the island of São Miguel this weekend, gathering a total of 68 athletes from four different islands as well as from clubs and institutions of the archipelago.

This sports event was organised by the Association of Parents and Friends of Disabled Children in the Azores with the support of the Regional Directorate for Sport.

The Laranjeiras Sports Hall was the place chosen to host this championship that will take place on March 20 from 3 PM to 6 PM and on March 21 from 10 AM to 12:30 PM.

Athletes from the islands of São Miguel, Terceira, Pico and Santa Maria will be in competition, representing various clubs and institutions of the Azores.

The results of the competition will be included in the national sports rank. The best athletes of the Azores, among whom seven 2009 national champions and two athletes holding the national javelin throw record, will attend the event.
