The “Escolinhas do Desporto” athletic development project publicised in the2000-01 academic year by the Regional Directorate for Sport (DRD) for children of the 1st grade of the preparatory teaching with ages between the eight and 10/11 years old, reckoned, in the last school year, with 360 nucleuses in activity.

In the 2005-06 school year the project was extended, starting to be addressed at children between the 6 and 10/11 years old.

In the first working season (2001-02) it registered a great adhesion by part of the schools, associations and Athletic School Clubs, with a total of 125 nucleuses, number that came always to grow in the subsequent years. 

For a balance to the development of the project, to the objectives for the present time, and presentation of the promotion poster, of the booklet of diffusion and of the sponsors, the DRD promotes, in its seat, in Angra do Heroísmo, a conference scheduled for Thursday, at 11 o’clock.
