“Weather Station" open to the public at Arquipélago - Contemporary Arts Centre

The Regional Directorate for Culture, through Arquipélago - Contemporary Arts Centre, has already opened the "Weather Station" exhibition, curated by Sérgio Mah, until the end of October.

This exhibition features photography and video works by Sandra Rocha and Manuela Marques. It was organised following an invitation made to the artists by the Regional Directorate for Culture, through Arquipélago - Contemporary Arts Centre, for the development of a project that departed from the Azores, which has been developed over the last two years.

Sandra Rocha, a native of Angra do Heroísmo, lives in Paris and holds a degree in Art History from the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences of Universidade Nova de Lisboa (New University of Lisbon) and a postgraduate degree in Contemporary Art.

In 2003, she co-founded the Kameraphoto collective, where she developed dozens of individual and collective projects.

Over the last decade, she has held more than a dozen solo exhibitions in Portugal and France, having participated in more than two dozen group exhibitions in Europe. In 2005, she was the recipient of the Visão BES Photojournalism Grand Prix, Portugal.

Manuela Marques, a native of Tondela, lives in Paris and has held more than 40 solo exhibitions in Portugal, France and Brazil over the past 15 years. She has also participated in group exhibitions in Europe, Brazil and the USA. In 2011, she was distinguished with the BESPHOTO Award.

The Regional Directorate for Culture informs that this and other events may be consulted in the Cultural Agenda of CulturAçores Portal at the address: www.culturacores.azores.gov.pt.
