The Regional Director of Culture, Gabriela Canavilhas, promoted an extended meeting at the Silveira Palace with the members of the Board and of the Bureau of the General Assembly of the Federation of Azorean Bands, which was also attended by various Island Delegates.

The meeting, in which the representatives of seven islands participated, included the debate on the reasons why the Federation has remained unable of acting in accordance with its goals, a situation caused by outdated protocols and by several difficulties generated by the geographical dispersion, along with the diversity of opinions regarding the different conditions between the various islands of the Archipelago.

The Regional Directorate of Culture considers the strengthening of the representativeness of the Federation to be essential, and it will support the creation of conditions for the organisation of a General Assembly between all the associates, in order to elect new social bodies, with which the Regional Directorate intends to maintain a permanent dialogue in order to implement new measures for the sector, mainly in the training and improvement of its activity conditions.
