Ponta Delgada Public Library and Regional Archive promotes workshop on "Photography in the Archives"

The Regional Directorate for Culture, through the Ponta Delgada Public Library and Regional Archive, promotes a workshop titled as "Photography in Archives” to be guided by Sónia Casquiço on October 27-29.
 
The initiative aims to make participants better acquainted with the role of photographic documentation in archives, taking into account the goal of raising their awareness for the specificities of photographic documents. By completing this training course, participants will have acquired the necessary practical skills to solve issues associated with this type of documents in archival collections.
 
The workshop takes place from 9.30 AM and 5.30 PM, with a break from 12:30 PM to 2 PM. It is addressed at professionals working in Libraries, Archives, and Museums as well as in the areas Conservation and Restoration.
 
Participation in this workshop, limited to 15 participants, requires full attendance of the training days. Registrations should be made until October 21.
 
Sonia Casquiço graduated in Conservation and Restoration at the Polytechnic Institute of Tomar. She also holds a postgraduate degree in Documentary Sciences - Archives from the Faculty of Letters of the University of Lisbon.
 
She has coordinated the teams responsible for the conservation of the photography collections of Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation Art Library since 2000. Between 2014 and 2015, she taught the subject of Photographic Archives under the Master's Degree in Information and Documentary Sciences at "Universidade Nova de Lisboa" (New University of Lisbon). From 2014, she has taught the subject of History of Audiovisuals and Archives and Photography to the Photography Course at the Heritage Recovery School of Sintra.
