The Regional Directorate of Culture, through the Graciosa Museum, in a joint initiative with the Graciosa “Ecoteca” (Environmental Awareness Raising Centre) and the Graciosa Cultural, Sports and Recreational Activity, promotes a Computer Workshop to take place at the headquarters of the aforementioned association during the month of September.
The Cultural Agenda of the Graciosa Museum for September includes two permanent exhibitions and a temporary exhibition: the first is about the estate of the whaling activity and it is open to the public at the Barracão dos Botes Baleeiros de Santa Cruz; the second focuses on the traditional cereal grinding process and may be visited at Moinho de Vento das Fontes; the third, a photography exhibition, is open to the public at the Casa do Povo de Guadalupe.
Under the Summer Animation initiative, the concerts by the musical groups Alma Nova, Animation, Sociedade Filármonica União Praiense and Filarmónica União Progresso de Guadalupe, and the performance of the Grupo Folclórico da Casa do Povo de Guadalupe will take place at the Praça Fontes Pereira de Melo in the village of Santa Cruz on September 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30 at 10 PM.
Moreover, two plays will be presented in the context of the Graciosa Island Theatre Festival: the Experimental Theatre Group “Magnetense de Meinedo,” from Lousada, will present the play “Aqui há fantasmas” (There are ghosts here) at the Graciosa Cultural Centre on September 2 at 9:30 PM; the Graciosa Theatre Group “A Semente” will present the Portuguese comedy “Três em lua-de-mel” (Three on Honeymoon) at the same centre on September 25 at 9 PM.
The Coro da Matriz de Santa Cruz da Graciosa will perform at the Graciosa Cultural Centre on September 26 at 9:30 PM. This concert includes the participation of the “Quarteto tradicional de cordas” from Terceira Island.
