Carlos Machado Museum celebrates European Heritage Days 2015 with Tea Heritage Itinerary

The Carlos Machado Museum will join Gorreana Tea Factory in the celebrations of European Heritage Days 2015 with activites to be held under the theme "Industrial and Technical Heritage." On Friday, September 25, it promotes the "Heritage Itinerary - from planting to the transformation of 'Camellia sinensis' leaves into Tea."

The programme starts at 10:30 AM with the gathering of participants at Gorreana Tea Factory, which will be followed by a hiking through tea plantations.

There will be a guided visit to the factory by the early afternoon, starting at 1:45 PM. Participants will have the opportunity to know the transformation process of 'Camellia sinensis' leaves into black tea (Orange, Pekoe e Broken Leaf) and green tea and to interact with those involved in the process of transforming this plant into tea.

The activity also includes the presentation of an exhibition to be held at Carlos Machado Museum next year and the tasting of tea.

Participation is free, but is subject to previous registration. Those who wish to take part in this activity should register until September 24 at the Carlos Machado Museum, through the telephone number 296 202 930 or at the email [email protected].

The Regional Directorate for Culture informs that this and other events may be consulted in the Cultural Agenda of the CulturAçores Portal at the following address: www.culturacores.azores.gov.pt.
