Regional Government already awarded more than 1,000 "Clean & Safe Azores" seals

The Regional Secretary for Energy, Environment and Tourism stated today that the Regional Government has already awarded more than 1,000 "Clean & Safe Azores" seals on all the islands of the archipelago.

"We were distinguished by European Best Destinations as one of the safest destinations in 2020," Marta Guerreiro said, adding that "the entities joining this initiative have been preponderant in providing a good response to all the health safety issues that are currently imposed."

According to the government official, 18 training courses have been held in the areas of Hospitality, Local Accommodation, Rural Tourism, Tourist Entertainment and Maritime Tourism, Rent-a-car, Travel Agencies, Tours and Tourism Information Professionals, Restaurants and Tourism Offices, covering 1,470 entities and a total of 1,852 trainees.

The awarding of the "Clean & Safe Azores" seal requires attendance in an online training course to be conducted according to the Handbook on COVID-19 Good Practices that was prepared in partnership with the Regional Secretariat for Health.

The training courses took place based on modules dedicated to each of the areas and can be consulted at https://clean-safe.azores.gov.pt/boas_praticas.aspx. All information about the programme is available on this site.

The Regional Secretary spoke in Nordeste at the end of a visit to the "Casas da Chaminé," a rural tourism project already distinguished with the "Clean & Safe Azores" seal.

“This is another example showing that the agents of the sector feel the need to welcome, which, currently, also entails a set of increased safety conditions,” stressed the government official.

Marta Guerreiro evidenced that this tourism project promotes not only the recovery and preservation of the memory of traditions, but also provides excellent comfort conditions in a personalised environment.

"It consists of three accommodation units, corresponding to six beds, in a property with an excellent view over the sea and a surrounding natural environment profoundly rural in character," said the government official.
