"Azores Welcome" programme to start January 9, covering about 500 participants on all islands

The Regional Secretariat for Energy, Environment and Tourism, through the Regional Directorate for Tourism, starts Wednesday, January 9, the "Azores Welcome" programme on Terceira island, covering the municipalities of Angra do Heroísmo and Praia da Vitória, followed by the remaining islands of the archipelago.

In partnership with the IPDT - Institute for Tourism Planning and Development, this training programme for tourism professionals currently involves 500 participants in the workshops to take place in all municipalities of the Azores.

After Terceira Island, the initiative takes place in Santa Cruz da Graciosa on January 10 and continues until mid-April. It will focus on a culture of service and hospitality in the Azores, which will be the motto of the work to be carried out in all municipalities of the archipelago during the next months.

Besides these workshops, the initiative includes the preparation of the "Azores Welcome Handbook," an essential tool to define and implement a quality service in the Region. It will address contents related to satisfaction, complaint management and definition of tourism service standards in the Azores.

Further information on the workshops, includes the programme, schedule and registrations is available at http://acoresrecebebem.ipdt.pt.
