The Regional Secretariat for Energy, Environment and Tourism, through the Regional Directorate for Energy, is a partner of RESOR, an energy policy project directed to European islands and outermost regions. It aims to define and promote the best practices in energy efficiency and integration of renewable energy sources, with a focus on tourism, agriculture and forestry companies.
 
This initiative falls within the specific goals of the Interreg Europe programme, which intends to disseminate energy efficiency and the use of renewable resources in entrepreneurship.
 
Portugal, Spain, Cyprus, France and Greece are the partner countries of this project. The initiative will identify the best practices for the optimisation of regional energy efficiency policy tools within the project and action plan to be implemented in each partner region, through audits and energy analyses as well as information and awareness-raising actions.
 
The RESOR project is aimed at insular spaces which, on the one hand, are less favoured areas in Europe but, on the other hand, have good conditions for the implementation of solutions, technologies, innovative practices and investments to increase energy efficiency or the use of renewable energy sources.
 
The focus on the agricultural, forestry and tourism sectors is in line with the Research and Innovation Strategy for Specialisation of the Azores (RIS3), emphasising the application of environmental sustainability principles.
