The Regional Secretary for Energy, Environment and Tourism said today in Angra do Heroísmo that the sustainable development of the archipelago can only be achieved with the involvement of all, highlighting the awareness of energy efficiency as the starting point for a global strategy.
 
"Awareness-raising is the key element so that, together, we can have at our disposal the essential tools to continue the path of energy efficiency," said Marta Guerreiro, who spoke at the end of the 2nd Meeting with Energy Efficiency.
 
In her speech delivered at this meeting, held on the World Energy Day, the Regional Secretary emphasised that "it is in this line of action that the Regional Government intends to implement a series of measures that promote energy efficiency, being in line with the European strategy. They will be based on economic rationality and the sustainable development of the archipelago."
 
The meeting held today in Angra do Heroísmo focused on themes related to public buildings, as major energy consumers, in order to raise awareness for energy efficiency by promoting behaviour change in the way energy is used and highlighting its importance for the development of a low carbon economy.
 
This year, there other planned meetings on energy efficiency, addressing issues such as electric mobility, residential sector and public lighting. This initiative is also a measure intended to raise awareness of all activity sectors for energy efficiency.
